CHERITON BISHOP PARISH COUNCIL VACANCIES
As a councillor you will be a voice for your fellow residents. We currently have vacancies on the council and would be delighted to hear from anyone interested. Cheriton Bishop benefits from a lively community supported by a wealth of volunteers and the parish council is here to protect and enhance our village, represent its residents and encourage local groups. It also represents the interests of the village by liaising with District and County Council departments, ie planning, funding, local issues, etc. If you feel you want to be a part of your local council have a chat with one of our current councillors (contact information on the Councillors tab above) or contact the Parish Clerk at clerk@cheritonbishop-pc.org.uk.
An Introduction to our Parish
Cheriton Bishop is a village on the edge of Dartmoor situated just off the A30 trunk road which used to run through the centre of the village. It is mainly in the Mid Devon District Council area but part is in Dartmoor National Park. Our village has a very active community with activities taking place in the Village Hall and the smaller Spalding Hall. There is a free monthly Newsletter providing details of everything that is going on in the village. There are numerous village organisations catering for every sort of activity, indoors and out.
We have Checkers Village Shop and Post Office, a doctors' surgery, a Primary School and Pre School also the Old Thatch Inn and Woodleigh Coach House cafe. Acorn Community Support provides transport and assistance. If there is a flag flying it is to mark either a national or local event taking place. Check your newsletter for the latest news.
